Capital city property owners are feeling increasingly confident, with vendor discounting continuing to decline.
In the July quarter, capital city vendors offered a median 3.5% discount on their final selling price compared to the original asking price, according to CoreLogic. That compares to 3.9% in April and 4.4% in September 2022 (the recent peak).
A reduction in discounting reflects an increase in vendor negotiating power and a strengthening in market conditions.
As always, conditions differ from city to city:
* Perth = 2.7% median vendor discount in the July quarter
* Brisbane = 3.3%
* Sydney = 3.4%
* Canberra = 3.4%
* Melbourne = 3.6%
* Adelaide = 4.0%
* Darwin = 4.9%
* Hobart = 5.4%
