Property market conditions continue to move towards sellers in the capital cities, with vendor discounting falling further, according to CoreLogic.
In the August quarter, capital city vendors offered a median 3.4% discount on their final selling price compared to the original asking price. By contrast, discounting was at 3.8% the quarter before and 4.2% the year before.
Looking at the individual capital cities, vendor discounting in the August quarter was:
* Brisbane = 3.1%
* Sydney = 3.2%
* Canberra = 3.5%
* Melbourne = 3.7%
* Adelaide = 4.0%
* Darwin = 5.3%
* Hobart = 5.3%
A reduction in vendor discounting means homeowners are finding it easier to sell properties,
and that the market is turning in their favour.
