The two territories have the highest weekly earnings in the country, according to new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
ACT residents had median weekly earnings of $1,550 per week in their main job, as of August, while Northern Territory residents had weekly earnings of $1,427.
Next came New South Wales and Western Australia (both $1,339), followed by Queensland ($1,300), Victoria ($1,280), Tasmania ($1,210) and South Australia ($1,200).
Interestingly, while the ACT and Northern Territory were at the top for weekly earnings, they were near the bottom for growth in earnings between 2018 and 2023:
* NSW = 25% growth
* Tas = 24%
* Qld = 24%
* SA = 20%
* Vic = 20%
* ACT = 19%
* NT = 14%
* WA = 13%
