Buyers have more properties to choose from, with the number of properties listed for sale across Australia in January 12.0% higher than the year before, according to PropTrack.
Listings were also 16.9% higher in the combined capitals, after increasing everywhere except Perth.
PropTrack senior economist Angus Moore said buyers have โquite reasonable levelsโ of choice in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart.
โIn all four cities, the total number of properties listed for sale was above, or within 10% of, the average over the past decade. They also recorded solid increases in the total number of properties listed for sale compared to a year ago,โ he said.
โThe same is not true in other capitals. In Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth, the total number of properties listed for sale was down more than 40% relative to the prior-decade average.โ
