Housing affordability ranges from high in the Northern Territory to low in Victoria, but there are steps people can take to enter the market ahead of schedule.
As the PropTrack map shows, affordability differs significantly from state to state. PropTrack calculated affordability levels by looking at what share of buyers โฆ earning the median household income โฆ and spending up to 25% of their pre-tax income on mortgage repayments ... could afford 20% of homes in a location.
PropTrack found 100% of locations in the Northern Territory contain a significant proportion (i.e. at least 20%) of affordable housing, compared to 8% in Victoria.
