Household wealth has grown for the third consecutive quarter, thanks mainly to the increase in property prices.
At the end of June, the average Australian had $558,105 in net wealth, based on the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Average net wealth is calculated by adding up all our household assets (such as properties), subtracting all our liabilities (such as home loans) and dividing that figure by the number of people in Australia.
Net wealth has doubled since 2009, tripled since 2003 and quadrupled since 2000.
